So it started last night with one of those evening when you go to bed and just can't switch off your brain. I must have been reviewing years worth of silly thoughts by the time 3am roll around - bearing in mind my alarm was set for 5! Therefore my wake up from what little sleep I did get was most definitely not sweet.
Somehow in my bleary state I managed to get myself dressed, fed and watered - pure miracle with only 2 hours sleep under my belt! And wrestled my weary bones out the door. Cue a very lacklustre shift at my day job, where my zero amount of energy made every task go at a glacial pace. Between frequent comments of "You look tired" and "Are you ok today?" - clearly I looked like death warmed up!
So the conclusion of this sleepless night, plus a whole day at work amounted in me getting home, pulling out a pad of paper, pen in hand, but then passing out over some random T.V. show. I woke up hours later with the A4 pad flapped against my head, my pen no where to be found, and a blank sheet to show for my efforts. Writing completed today: Zero, and then some!
Unlike some writers I don't write every single day, at some points I've gone months without jotting down a thing, and then there can be days when I compose entire chapters in a few hours. I think it's all down to timing, inspiration and the most essential of all - a good night's sleep!
